Terra! is a new independent campaigning organization which aims to protect the environment by creating a new kind of environmental campaigning/activism.
Terra! is a brand new organization: it was born at the beginning of 2008 with the aim of pursuing international campaigns at local level in an innovative way. Terra! connects locally active individuals and organizations (citizens groups, community based organizations, etc.). Terra!'s goal is to create an environmental activism network in Italy by developing innovative radicalism based on passion, competence and creativity.

Terra! is already active in most of Italy, and boasts around 200 activists in 18 Italian cities: Rome, Milan, Florence, Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Naples, Palermo, Leghorn, Cagliari, Trento, Padua, Bassano del Grappa, Como, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Ravenna, Ancona. Creating networks is Terra!'s main focus while raising awareness regarding its campaign . Terra! is part of a network of organizations coordinated by Friends of the Earth Europe, which campaigns to reduce CO2 emissions of cars. Terra! is also campaigning on Indonesian rainforests together with Rainforest Action Network, Greenpeace and WWF.

As its first campaign activity, Terra! worked together with Friends of the Earth and a network of European NGOs to promote a European law on car efficiency and the regulation of CO2 emissions. Terra! organized a highly successful guerrilla marketing campaign. In one single night 200 historic statues in Rome were provided with gas masks and road signs demanding the reduction of CO2 emissions. The action was soon repeated in Milan, Genoa and Padua. A few months later, another subvertising activity was carried out: road signs in Rome, Milan, Florence and Padua were modified to prohibit access to highly-polluting cars.
